Marshall Scholarship

Description:

The Marshall Scholarship provides scholarships for young Americans of high ability to study for a
degree in the United Kingdom. The Marshall Scholarships commemorate the humane ideals of the
Marshall plan conceived by General George C. Marshall and express the continuing gratitude of the
British people to their American counterparts. The scholarships enable intellectually distinguished
Americans to study in the U.K.; help scholars gain an understanding and appreciation of
contemporary Britain; contribute to the advancement of knowledge in science, technology, and
humanities and social sciences and the creative arts at Britain’s center of academic excellence;
motivate scholars to act as ambassadors from the U.S. to the U.K. thus strengthening British
American understanding; and promote the personal and academic fulfillment of each scholar.

Signature of Program:

1-2 years of graduate study at any British University

Amount of Award:

University fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel
grants, fares to and from the United States and, where applicable, a contribution towards the
support of a dependent spouse.

Requirements:

Academic distinction in field of pursuit. US Citizenship.
GPA should be in top quarter of class to be eligible to apply.

The Marshall Scholarship requires and institutional endorsement.  To receive this, you must meet
the August 15th deadline.

Deadline:

Applicants must submit completed application and unofficial transcripts as a pdf by midnight August
15 and participate in campus interviews in September.
