Fulbright Fellowships

Rising seniors and graduates (Institutional Endorsement Recommended)

 

Application Deadlines

Description:

The Fulbright U.S. student program provides an unparalleled opportunity to teach, study and conduct research in over 130 countries worldwide.
As envisioned by Senator Fulbright, the program is designed to:

  • promote mutual understanding through a commitment to the free flow of ideas and people across national boundaries.
  • expand, through this understanding, the boundaries of human wisdom, empathy and perception.
  • create true and lasting world peace through cooperation in constructive activities among people of different nations.

 

English Teaching Assistantships (ETAs):  

  •   Recipients assist in the teaching of English and a complementary project.

Application Procedure:

  • Candidates need to develop a statement of grant purpose and personal statement
  • Study/Research candidates must secure an in-country affiliation. 
  • Grants will fund project and living expenses for an 8-12 month period. 
  • Students apply to a specific country for a specific proposal.  You may only apply to one country only.

Requirements: 

Applicants must be a US Citizen. Language proficiency varies by country. Not all countries require language knowledge; 3.0 GPA

There are many things you can do to become competitive for such awards. It all starts with becoming engaged with your classes, your professors, and your community–starting your freshman year!

The key to a strong application is…START EARLY! Follow these steps to schedule your appointment!

STEP 1: Look through the Handbook or Website to identify potential awards.

  • Each award description in the handbook or website includes eligibility, a description, application procedures, and links to videos/webinars.
  • Some awards identify “institutional endorsement required” or “institutional endorsement recommended”. In order to be endorsed by ONSA and the university of Mississippi you must have a complete application by the campus deadline.

STEP 2: Complete the Fellowship Interest Form (required)

STEP 3: Make an appointment with a Fellowship Advisor (strongly recommended)

STEP 4: If you apply for a national fellowship, you will need to complete the Nomination Permission Form and Waiver (required)
